Using the invoice generator takes less time than writing one out by hand. Start at the top of the form: enter an invoice number, the invoice date, and a due date so your client knows exactly when payment is expected. Below that, fill in your business details and your client's details — these appear side by side on the finished invoice, exactly as they would on a printed letterhead.
Next, build out your line items. Click "Add line item" for every product or service you're billing for, and type a short description, a quantity, and a rate. The amount for each row, and the running total at the bottom, update automatically as you type — there's no separate "calculate" button to press. If you offer a discount or need to apply a tax rate, enter the percentages in the fields provided and the totals box will adjust the subtotal, discount, tax, and grand total in real time.
